The exhibition “No Reading No Cry!” is opening this Saturday, September 5th at 7 pm at the Open Graphic Art Studio - Museum of the City of Skopje, and will be displayed until September 15th.
Mark Pezinger Verlag presents “No Reading No Cry!”, an exhibition with Darko Aleksovski (MK), Felicia Atkinson (FR), Andrew Gannon (UK), Romain Gandolphe (FR), Katrin Herzner (DE), Florence Jung (FR), Florian Köhler (DE), Mikko Kuorinki (FI), Darko Petrusev (MK), Astrid Seme (AT), Yann Vanderme (FR) and the Macedonian Artists’ Books Library.
As manager of a bookstore invisibility is indeed frustrating, but from an artist’s perspective invisibility can encourage the viewer to re-imagine how we engage presence, memories or documentation.
Following this idea Mark Pezinger Verlag brings 11 artists together that work along the margins of what a book is, how the book and its content disappear and when it can only be visualized through imagination.
As a physical counterpart to the exhibition the Macedonian Artists’ Books Library will open bringing together artist’s books from various publishers that are normally hard to be accessible in Macedonia. The organizers would like to thank 1:1, 1%ofONE Verlag, Back Bone Books, Ben K. Voss, Black Pages, BoaBooks, Edition Fink, Edition Taube, FuckingGoodArt, Gloria Glitzer, Harpune Verlag, Good Press Gallery, Humboldt Books, Kodoji Press, La Houle, Michalis Pichler Unlimited, MOREpublisher, Nieves, Section7Books, Sergej Vutuc, Shelter Press and Soybot for their donations.
After the exhibition the Macedonian Artists’ Books Library will stay in Skopje for the common use.
The exhibition is supported by the German Embassy Skopje, the Federal Chancellery of Austria and “I want to become a millionaire”.
