Smoking

The Republic of Macedonia is ranked as the second country in Europe that has a majority of its population declared as smokers. Since January 1st 2010 smoking in public places that serve food such as restaurants,, cafés, or the outdoor gardens of lounge bars became illegal. The fine for smoker can go from 150 to 300 euros. Hoteliers and owners of objects that allow indoor smoking will face a fine from 2500 to 4500 euros and closing the facility for 30 days.

This law is in accordance with the rules of the European Union where smoking is also prohibited by law.
